Choosing a coffee maker

Espresso machine and cups on a kitchen counter
There isn’t one perfect coffee maker for every kitchen. The right choice depends on how you like your coffee, how many people you’re making it for, and how much time you want to spend before breakfast. Automatic drip machines are handy when you want a few cups with very little effort. Pour-over drippers give you more hands-on control for one or two cups. French presses are simple, affordable, and don’t need electricity. You can start with what fits your mornings instead of buying a whole collection of gear. Moka pots make strong, espresso-like coffee on the stove, and espresso machines make true espresso.
To choose, think about how many cups you make, how much time you have each morning, and how much you want to tinker. Beginners often do well starting with a simple pour-over or French press before spending more.
