Build a home coffee setup

Barista tools on a wooden counter
Good home coffee doesn’t require a countertop full of gadgets. Start with coffee you enjoy and one brewer that feels easy to use. If you want to build from there, a grinder and a simple kitchen scale can make the biggest difference because they help you get a more consistent cup. A kettle is useful, too, but you can begin with the one you already own. Add extras only when you know why you want them.
Add a thermometer, a gooseneck kettle or an espresso machine later, only if you find yourself wanting them. Start simple and upgrade whichever step you can taste is holding you back.
