Coffee makers

Drip machines favor convenience, while espresso machines favor concentrated shots and a learning curve. Choose by how much effort you want to put in each morning.

Grinders

Burr grinders crush beans to a more even size, and blade grinders chop them. Even size generally means more consistent flavor.

Pour-over drippers and French presses

Pour-over gives control and a clean cup. A French press is forgiving and full-bodied. Both are inexpensive ways to begin.
